Our need for speed: Local thoughts?

Ever wonder why everyone's always flying down the 101? I saw something interesting that says most California drivers actually think speeding is normal. What's even crazier, some folks believe it's safer to just keep up with the flow of traffic, speed limit be darned. What do you think?
